Dan's compassion for sharing his gifts with others began at the age of 13 when he was given a platform to perform freelance magic at his local library in Hoopeston IL. He started his work with animals on a farm working with sheep, hogs and horses. After finishing high school he moved out to California to pursue his love of animals.  He graduated in 1995 from Moorpark College with two degrees: Wildlife Education and Animal Training and started his career.

Since then, Dan has had the pleasure of working with many different exotic animals such as chimpanzees, orangutans, an African elephant, a Bengal tiger, pygmy hippopotamus, lemurs, gibbons, various birds of prey, alligators, crocodiles and many more.

During his years of working with animals, Dan served as one of the lead animal trainers for four feature films:
- Most Vertical Primate 2
- Most Extreme Primate
- Spymate
- Little Big Foot

Dan has met many world known celebrities, politicians, corporate executives and fans.  In 2008 Dan visited with the President of the United States. This was Dan's second consecutive presentation at the White House where he shared his life's work and entertained George W. Bush.

Dan has worked with Jack Hanna, Director of Columbus Zoo Emeritus, Julie Scardina/Ginny Busch (Busch Gardens / Seaworld), Jim Fowler, and Peter Gros with Mutual of Omaha's "Wild Kingdom." Dan also filmed an episode of "The Jeff Corwin Experience" for Animal Planet.
